YEA suspends allowances of more than sixty thousand beneficiaries 

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has suspended payment of allowances to more than sixty thousand beneficiaries. 
 
According to the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the new management has detected fraudulent activities, including allowances to thousands of people who do not work for the agency.
  
According to the YEA website there are about ten separate modules under the YEA programme, with over six hundred thousand beneficiaries.

The CEO, Justin Kodua Frimpong, explained that the payment has been suspended for three weeks, to investigate the irregularity.

Meanwhile, management of the Agency has detected two thousand 999 ghost names on its payroll, saving the State one million 67 thousand 700 Ghana cedis in the process.
  
A statement signed by the acting Deputy CEO of the Agency in Charge of Operations, Bashiru Ibrahim, explained that the said ghost names were detected after an audit revealed that payments were made to some beneficiaries with no work done.
  
It adds that on the basis of these findings, management has commissioned the Internal Audit Agency to conduct a special audit into the operations of the agency. 

This has become necessary to provide a platform for the new administration to take measures to prevent the scandals that rocked the Agency in the past. 
 
Management however appeals to beneficiaries to remain calm as it works to complete the validation process.
