‘Planting for Food and Jobs’: Women farmers raise concerns about qualifications 

Some women farmers in the Upper West Region are appealing to government to review the requirements for the qualification as beneficiary of the 'Planting for Food and Jobs programme'.

The women say the five hectare piece of land and the up-front payment of fifty percent cost of inputs under the programme are beyond their reach. 

Queen-mother of Daffiama Traditional Council, Pognaa Mwinyelle, stated this on behalf of her colleagues during a workshop on natural resource governance at Wa. 

Elsewhere, the President of the Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana, Nana Oboadie has appealed to President Akufo Addo to hold a consultation meeting with farmer based groups  in the remote parts of the country for their views and input to ensure the success of the planting for food and jobs programme.  

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Nana Oboadie said previous programmes failed because of the lack of engagement of stakeholders.
