Ashanti Region: Man, 65, murdered in Ejisu-Juaben

A 65-year old man, Kwaku Asare Acheampong, has been clubbed to death at Kubease in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of Ashanti.

His assailants are believed to have hit his neck with a sawn wood after tying his mouth with a cellotape, tied his hands to the back and the legs with a black rope.
 
At about 11.30 Tuesday morning when GBC`s Correspondent Nicholas Osei-Wusu arrived at the scene, the sawn wood believed to have been used to kill Mr. Acheampong was at the scene, with the body and surrounded by people in the town. 

One of his daughters, Attaa Afrakomah told Radio Ghana that Mr Acheampong popularly called Akyea, was keeping watch over four of their excavators behind their house.

A senior brother of the deceased noted that the excavators are rented out to small scale miners for their operations but had to be retrieved for safe-keeping after government's directive against galamsey operations.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Ejisu District Police have visited the scene to begin investigations.
