The Daily Graphic cautions that slum development will be difficult to deal with if the factors that contribute to their emergence are not dealt with. The paper is worried over the fact that city authorities have slept over their responsibilities, the major reason slums have been developed to this worrying stage. The Graphic says slums among other things distort the development plans of a country, create sanitation problems and could easily spread diseases .It is for these reasons that the paper calls on the authorities to find lasting solutions to the issue of slums.

                    
The Ghanaian Times says the protection of children should be a national priority. It says children who are the future leaders should be protected from harm especially in schools, on the roads and in public places adding that child maintenance and protection are a shared responsibility.

The Daily Heritage notes that, HIV/AIDS was the second highest cause of death at the Koforidua Government Hospital in 2017. The paper says the disease killed 139 people in 2017 compared to 134, in 2016 a situation which is worrying. This is growing due to the misuse of social media and a lot of adolescents becoming sexually active. The paper urges students to abstain from sex until marriage and also calls on the family to sit up and inculcate in their wards good morals and educate them on sex at home.
