Former Chelsea star Anelka enjoying life after football in Dubai Former Chelsea striker, Nicholas Anelka has disclosed how he is currently relaxing and enjoying life, living in Dubai and contemplating his next move. Speaking to GTV Sports, at the U13 Dubai Intercontinental Cup, he mentioned how he felt the need to just lay back and take stock of his life after an illustrious playing career which saw him play for clubs such as Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool and Manchester City among others. Giving his thoughts on a number of issues, he admitted that although the world is blessed to have Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, in his opinion, the overall quality of players today is not like back in the days. According to him, the media has a big role to play in that because players today, are given too much attention too early in their careers. On the issue of money in the game he said that all the money is good for the players but not good for the game. He added that it dilutes the quality of players as now they do not have to work as hard as they used to to make it financially. On what would be his most painful moment in his career he said his penalty miss in the 2009 Champions League final when Chelsea lost to Man United. He commended Michel Salgado for instituting the Dubai Intercontinental Cup because it is at this age that players develop into potential world class stars and hoped that it.would continue for years to come.
