Two suspects arrested with locally manufactured rifles in connection with reprisal attacks in Zabzugu

Two suspects have been arrested with two locally manufactured rifles at Jagrido in the Zabzugu district of the Northern Region.

The arrest is in connection with reprisal attacks on herdsmen in the community. 

About forty hamlets belonging to the herdsmen were torched while an unknown number of cattle were killed.

According to the Police PRO, ASP Yussif Tanko, an unspecified number of livestock was also retrieved.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Zabzugu, Ahmed Abukari Iddrisu, said calm has returned to the area and assured the people that security personnel will continue to patrol in the area until there is total peace.
