Gov't dispels notion of feet dragging over postponement in MMDCEs election

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama says government remains committed to the election of MMDCEs.

She said a road map is being examined to pave the way for the elections. 

Earlier the 2016 flagbearer of the Progressive Peoples Party, PPP, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, asked President Akufo-Addo to accelerate efforts to implement his campaign promise after the Deputy Local Government minister OB Amoah ruled out 2018 and 2019 as possible dates for the execution of the promise. 

Speaking to GBC's Ibrahim Kwarteng on our news and current affairs programme "Behind The News" Haijia Mahama dispelled the notion that government is dragging its feet for fear of losing power in 2020 if the elections are conducted.
 
She said due process must be followed to get the elections conducted.
